On 27 December 2016, the Government announced a temporary $5,000 boost to the FHOG to $15,000.

Eligible first home buyers who enter into a contract between 1 January and 31 December 2017 to purchase or construct a new home will receive the additional boost.

  • Never received a FHOG in any other Australian territory or state
  • 18 years or older
  • Use the new home as your permanent residence for at least the first 6 months
  • If you are applying for a first time home buyer's grant, you can use the FHOG as part of your deposit
